Collectorz.com Book Collector - a great program for book lovers
I love having good programs that are easy to use, and that actually help me.
Collectorz.com’s Book Collector is one of those programs. It’s a great program for people who love books–and who want to keep track of which books are in their collection, which books they still want to buy or borrow from the library, or even which books they’ve read.
Sometimes I forget whether I’ve purchased a favorite book or not, or which books I have by my favorite authors. That’s where Book Collector comes in handy. You can easily print out lists to carry with you. (Yes, I do that–especially when I go on a book-buying spree.
There are so many ways you can organize the books, even adding or deleting columns, creating columns with your own titles, grouping them in folders (like by genre, publisher, or author), and searching is fast and easy.
It’s also super easy and fast to add a book–all you have to do is type in the title, author, or isbn, or scan the isbn, and it will do a search for you online, grabbing the title, a thumbnail image of the cover, and all the relevant information, even the summary written up in an online bookstore. You can even export your book lists to your iPod or PDA, so you can view them in the store (pro edition only).
I’ve got several separate book lists–teen fiction, teen fantasy and paranormal fiction, picture books, and books on writing technique. It helps me remember which authors I want to check to see if they have new books out, by looking at the lists, or looking at the rating I gave the books.
I love Book Collector; it was well worth the purchase price (standard $25.95, pro edition $39.95 US). If you love books, and enjoy being organized, you might want to check out this program. It works on both Windows and Apple Mac OS X, and there’s a free trial version that’s limited to 100 books. You can find Book Collector here.
