library elf – keeping tabs on your library items
Elf or Library Elf is a very useful site for people who borrow books from the library. It’s a free online service that helps you to avoid overdue fines by sending you email and/or RSS alerts before your books or other items are due.

I was delighted to find this site. It is SO easy for me to have overdue books, especially now that the due dates are just printed out on a receipt (so easy to lose–and forget). I’m hoping this site will help.
Elf also allows you to see all the books and items that you and family members have out (you can manage multiple library cards), and, in the US and Canada, you can receive cellphone text message alerts when items you’ve placed on hold have arrived. You can set your preferences to what you want. This is such a great idea!
