New York Times’ list of the best children’s picture books in 2007

The New York Times has a list of what they think are the best illustrated children’s books in 2007. They’ve put together a slide show with a page from each of their book choices. I don’t agree with all their choices–though some of the books *are” among my top choices–but it’s interesting to look at what they’ve chosen.

Many of you will recognize this illustration from Antoinette Portis’ Not a Box. (Not a Box is wonderfully imaginative, and so true to a child’s imagination. If you haven’t read it yet, get your hands on a copy! You can read my review of it here.

What I really like about the NY Times’ list is that they’ve taken a visual excerpt from each book, and they also pair it with a review of the book (a link which you can click on), and, of course, the name of the book, author and illustrator, and publisher.
