Help readers enjoy the book for the story, and not have a gender bias
Little Willow has a great post on how she encourages children to look past gender bias and just enjoy a book for the story–by telling the child why she herself likes the book, and why she thinks they might, too. Adults can learn from Little Willow’s post–learn how to help kids get past the gender bias, or remind yourself to get past your own bias.
I love picking up any book that appeals to me, any book that is well written–and I hope so much that others do, too. Otherwise, it’s just limiting yourself–when books can open you up to whole new worlds and perspectives in such a safe and fun way.
