Junie B Jones is now a musical

A musical based on Barbara Park’s Junie B. Jones books has opened off Broadway at NYC’s Lucille Lortel Theatre. The musical (the same name as the series) stars Jennifer Cody, and features lyrics by Marcy Heisler and music by Zina Goldrich.

    I’m going to have to investigate to see if it’s the same one that was done here at the Imagination Stage in Bethesda, Md. I saw it twice, a couple of years apart, and I thought it was a home-grown product. It would be wonderful if it found its place in NYC.

    Ah, I was almost right. The Imagination Stage commissioned the first Junie B. Jones work, but the second came from Theaterworks.
