Melanie Watt’s Scaredy Squirrel is coming to TV
I *love* Melanie Watt’s Chester–that book made me a fan. I’m not quite as wild about Scaredy Squirrel, but I still like the idea that it’s going to be made into a 26-episodeTV series, as well as some animated shorts. Maybe it’ll get the kids to ask for the picture books (there are three of them, with a fourth title to come in 2009). Or some parents buying the books because they know their kids watch the show.
Thanks to 100 Scope Notes for the link, who saw it in Publisher’s Weekly Children’s Bookshelf (which I read, but I’m a bit behind in my reading. Hey, I’m not even completely unpacked yet.
).

Thanks for sharing the informaton. I had read something about this last year and even mentioned it to my students who were so excited. I will share it with them again. They love Scaredy Squirrel and so far Chester has won their hearts this year. Looks like Melanie has another winner on her hands. Way to go. Thanks for making great books that will motivate kids to read.
