My little dog makes a great reading companion

I love my little dog, my Chinese Crested. Her name is Willow (I named her after the tree, because the hair draping from her ears reminds me of a Willow tree.) Willow loves lying half on, half off me most of the day–when I’m reading, when I’m reviewing books, and when I’m writing (if I write sitting on the couch). Perfect!

Willow doesn’t mind if I read for hours and hours; she lies all over me, giving me comfort; and she sometimes stretches, reminding me to do the same. She’s the perfect reading companion. She’s also such good company–and she gives a tremendous amount of unconditional love.

This past week at GalleyCat, they had Dog Days where book people sent in photos of their dog. I was a few hours too late (I only just got my digital camera in the mail) so I thought I’d post two photos, here–purely for fun.

Here’s Willow excited about one of my favorite recent (2007) picture books, Chester, by Melanie Watt. I reviewed Chester here.

Do you have a special animal who shares your days? Who likes lying near you while you read?
