Two of Kate DiCamillo’s books to become movies

Kate DiCamillo’s book The Tale of Despereaux will be released as an animated film by Universal on December 19, 2008, and her new novel, The Magician’s Elephant (which was just acquired by Candlewick Press) will likely become a feature film, since it’s already been optioned by Fox. The Magician’s Elephant will be released in the fall of 2009.

Wow, eh? It seems that filmmakers see the story magic in DiCamillo’s work.

Thanks to Cynopsis Kids for the info.
