Even More Gifts for Book Lovers and Writers

As reader Madison pointed out, a gift card to a book store makes a thrilling gift for a book lover. It’s so much fun! So seriously consider getting your book lover a gift card–for an in-person bookstore or an online bookstore (or one that’s both). They’re one of my favorite things to receive.

Giving one of your favorite books to someone you love is also a neat Christmas present.

“Summer” by DeWit-Marchant

Artist Deborah DeWit-Marchant has painted a lot of beautiful paintings depicting books and readers. Thirty of those paintings are available as greeting cards. Art depicting reading can be beautiful–and a card can be looked at, savored, even framed. Or it can just be part of a larger gift. The cards are $2.50 each, and it looks like you can pick and choose which ones. My top favorites are “Sense” and “Summer.” DeWit-Marchant has both a writer collection and a reader collection, so there’s something that will appeal to both. You can also order prints of any of the artwork seen on the cards. Prints are $125.00 for the 16 x 20 image size, and $220.00 for the 20 x 28 image size.

(To order the cards, you go back to the main page, and click on “order form/pricelist” at the bottom. You then print out the order form and mail it in.)

An even better gift might be Deborah DeWit Marchant: In the Presence of Books, a book that collects many of Deborah DeWit-Marchant’s paintings of books and readers, and is a celebration of reading.

$25.55 at Amazon.com.

If your book lover likes the library- and book-themed comic strip “Unshelved”, then they might appreciate one of the five collections of that comic strip.

Prices vary from $14.95 to $17.94.

This literary keychain notebook is very small, which makes it easy to carry around and never have to search for paper again. It’s handmade by an artist from a vintage book cover. She has other designs as well. To me, it’s slightly pricey but a neat idea at $26.00.

The chair in that print does look like a lovely place to read! I am often horrified when I go to other peoples houses by the fact that there is nowhere good to sit and read–I even arranged my doll house so that there were comfortable chairs with both natural and artifical light sources at hand…

Charlotte, I agree that a comfortable place to read is important. I love what you did to your dollhouse! Great places to read should exist everywhere. :)
