This book video for Booklist.com made me laugh. Some of the readers are reading in places you don’t normally see people read, while others I actually do (reading on the subway, the bus, etc). I enjoyed this, and hope you will, too.
I write the books I needed and couldn't find as a teen. I write teen fiction--paranormal fantasy and gritty realistic fiction. I'm the author of SCARS (WestSide Books, 2010) #1 ALA QuickPicks, and Governor General Literary Award Finalist, HUNTED (WestSide Books, Oct 2011), STAINED (Harcourt, 2013), The Last Dragon (HIP Books, Sept 2009), and Walking Both Sides (HIP Books, 2011). I also enjoy drawing, surfing the web, connecting with people I like, doing crafts, and being with my dog.
I’m saving the video to look at later because my daughter’s falling asleep right now 🙂 but this reminded of something I saw the other day. I was in the grocery store parking lot, pulling the car into a space. But just as I was about to turn in, a bicyclist crossed my path. He must not have seen me because HE WAS READING A BOOK WHILE RIDING HIS BIKE! I am all for reading anytime, anyplace, but WOW. Dangerous much? 🙂
I love talking to my husband while he’s reading, just to see his reaction. I say something. He frowns, and turns his head a little toward me, but keeps reading. I say a couple more words. He moves his head some more but keeps reading from the corners of his eyes. More words and he looks at me over his glasses as if wondering who I am and where the heck we are right now. I love it. Absolute proof of the fictive dream!
Book Chook, that’s so funny! But SO neat–that your husband really loves books and can get into them like that. I think most of us booklovers can. But how neat to see!

Wow, Kelly! What a sight! Yeah, incredibly dangerous. Geez! Yet…neat that he’s into his book. But dangerous….
I used to read walking down the sidewalks. But I’d look for cars at the crossroads.
