rejection for writers – don’t give up
I *love* reading about well-known writers, or writers whose writing I admire, whose work got rejected multiple times. I think I relate, since it took me 10 years and more than 40 revisions of Scars to find a publisher where it was a real match (and I LOVE my editor, Evelyn Fazio, and my publisher, WestSide Books–they are *incredible* with me)! And before I got published, it gave me hope, and a kind of pleasure at seeing an author (or artist) succeed where some people thought they wouldn’t.
So when I find rejections stories about writers I love, I enjoy settling in and reading them.
Check out Debbie Ohi’s (InkyElbows) post about some writers who were rejected multiple times, including Madeline l’Engle; Shannon Hale’s The Goose Girl (I love that book); Ray Bradbury; Judy Blume; and more!
Do you like reading about rejection of authors (or artists) who later got published? Do you have a rejection story of your own? Do share! Here or at Debbie Ohi’s post.
