Wear Purple Today to support LGBTQ & remember those lost

I’m wearing purple today to support LGBT youth. I’ve also changed my Twitter profile pic to be purple, and mentioned it on FaceBook. You can check it out here.

I think it’s so important that we show queer youth–and adults–that we support them (and each other), that we are here–and that we are honoring those queer youth who killed themselves because of homophobic bullying. I hope you’ll join me in wearing purple today.

I agree! I’m at school today (I’m a high school teacher at an alternative school) in a purple shirt, wearing large earrings with a rainbow heart on each one, and a small pin that says “Heterosexuality isn’t normal, just common”. I think everyone should get in on this!

Oh, WOW, Carina! I love hearing that! You are doing such a good thing! Your students are lucky to have you.
