I LOVE this powerful #BelieveSurvivors #bookart post by @yawednesdays
I LOVE this powerful #BelieveSurvivors #bookart post by @yawednesdays that I found via @jessicaspotswood. Speaking truth is powerful, and books help create positive change with those truths even more. They can increase empathy and compassion, help us know we are not alone. And they can also help us escape our own pain.
Via @yawednesdays:

“When a woman risks
her place, her very life to speak
a truth the world despises?
Believe her. Always.” — @jmcwrites Blood, Water, Paint
This week has been a difficult mental health week for me. Victims have been put on trial while the accused have been self-righteous and arrogant, insulated by their privilege. I have sought the comfort of the written word and every single book in this shot has spoken to me in a different way. I hope these recs will help someone else find their voice.
This has been a very abstract attempt at #StackingUpSaturday, but we all know I have trouble playing by the rules.
someone else find their voice.

I am always delighted when readers recommend my books
I am always delighted when readers recommend my books, so I loved seeing this post by @yourstruly_bookaddict on Instagram recommending STAINED and other good reads. (beaming)
.
Via @yourstruly_bookaddict These are my highly recommended October reads. Not necessarily scary or spooky but they do have a lot of mystery, suspense and some plot twists. Honestly anything by @natashapreston5 and @cherylrainfield is highly recommended from me. I have only read Ten by Gretchen McNeil and seen the movie (both good) but want to read #murdertrending But anyway, if you want to read some amazing books go for literally any of Cheryl Rainfield’s or Natasha Preston’s books. You won’t be disappointed. What are your recommended October reads?

As a fellow survivor, I believe, hear, and stand with Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.
As a fellow survivor, I believe, hear, and stand with Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. I applaud her courage and strength in speaking out in a society that consistently blames, does not believe, and fails to support survivors and women. In a society that values men and their power over the lives, safety, and mental health of women and other survivors.
All of the attacks on Dr. Christine Blasey Ford are yet another example of our #rapeculture where men, and even some women, believe that it is okay to verbally attack, threaten, and attempt to discredit a brave woman speaking her truth. This lack of compassion, empathy, and humanity needs to stop. #BelieveSurvivors
Via @huffpostwomen – “I am here today not because I want to be. I am terrified. I am here because I believe it is my civic duty to tell you what happened to me while Brett Kavanaugh and I were in high school.” ◾️ Christine Blasey Ford gives her testimony regarding her allegation that the Supreme Court nominee sexually assaulted her when they were in high school. Like Anita Hill before her, Blasey chose to wear a blue suit to the hearing today. (📷: Getty)

It takes a lot of courage and strength to speak out about rape, sexual harassment, or incest in a society that does not often believe survivors and usually blames us. Please believe survivors when we speak out.

I believe you. I stand with you. I am one of you. And you are not alone.
If you tell about your sexual abuse or assault and the person doesn’t believe you, tell someone else. Find safety and support. You deserve to be believed when you speak out, and to be treated with compassion, caring, and dignity.
Hugging you all,
Cheryl Rainfield

I love this awesome bookswag from @demebrodsky for her #YAlit thriller DIVE SMACK – a signed bookmark, Monarch butterfly tattoos, and a meaningful, hand-written card. I can’t wait to read her book!
It’s got fantastic blurbs by authors I love including @c_desir who said: “Complex, thrilling, and with a pitch-perfect narrative voice, DIVE SMACK will leave you on the edge of your seat and unable to put this one down.” #divesmack #demetrabrodsky #YAbooks #yarecs #bookrecs #bookrecommendations #booklove #bookswag #christadesir
