I LOVE this gorgeous photo that fellow #YAlit author @mcfarlanebooks took of STAINED, and that she’s enjoying it so far. It’s always such a compliment when other writers like your work. Melanie has such a great artistic eye – AND she also writes dark fiction with hope. Check out her books if you haven’t already.
Via @mcfarlanebooks – What are you reading right now? My current #tbr is Stained by @cherylrainfield and it’s amazing 🤘 .

I am reading and absolutely loving #mglit fantasy TILLY AND THE BOOKWANDERERS by Anna James.
I am reading and absolutely loving #mglit fantasy TILLY AND THE BOOKWANDERERS by Anna James. It is such a deliciously magical bookish novel about Tilly, a girl who loves to read who lives with her grandparents in a bookshop and starts to see and then be able to talk with her favorite characters from books including Anne of Green Gables. (I love Anne of Green Gables and I think the author captured her perfectly). She also spots her grandparents talking to their favorite authors.
I love the idea of characters from books coming to life, and it reminds me a bit of INKHEART by Cornelia Funke (another of my favourites). I love books about books, especially when they are magical. It also deals with loss of a parent, being left out, and discovering new friends.
I am finding this such a comforting, fun, delightful, satisfying read that I think it will become one of my favorites that I want to re-read over and over. And I am excited to see that it is the first in a series (Pages & Co)

I just received my first ever Uppercase box
I just received my first ever Uppercase box (a YA monthly subscription box) that my friend and reader Lynn Postlewait so generously gave me (3 months!) as a gift for Christmas and I’m so excited to dive in! This case includes a signed hardcover copy of THE GILDED WOLVES by Roshani Chokshi who is a NY Times bestselling author, a Gilded Wolves character card, a Harry Potter Quidditch notebook, and a little packet of tea from Wick & Fable. Such delightful but goodies! I love books and bookish stuff.
The hardcover book came packed in a little fabric bag which I so appreciated because I like to keep my books in good shape.
I needed another great ya fantasy to dive into so I’m excited to read this. Yay for YA books and good friends!

I am always so happy to see readers who connected with me following their own heart, dreams
I am always so happy to see readers who connected with me following their own heart, dreams and creative endeavours. So I was delighted to hear from Jacob Lasher that he’s written and published MORE TO LIFE, a book of poetry dealing with trauma and child abuse (both physical and sexual) and healing. I’ve only just read the first few poems and already found them moving, honest, and brave, compelling and relatable. Another strong survivor voice. I look forward to reading the rest.

I just finished THE DELPHI RESISTANCE by Rysa Walker; it was so good I immediately bought the third book
I just finished THE DELPHI RESISTANCE by Rysa Walker; it was so good I immediately bought the third book in the series. If you like YA books with characters who have psychic powers, then you will LOVE this series.
This was another book full of tension, emotion, and great twists. I rooted for Anna and all the other psychically-gifted kids the entire time.
Foster teen Anna is a strong-girl character who works to save herself and others. She can take on the souls of people who have passed-and what I found intriguing and unique is that after she helps them move on, she retains their memories and talents. Anna is such a great, likable character. I also love that her foster brother Deo is bi. We need more LGBTQIA characters in books!
I also love that her therapist is such a positive character, and love that the physically-powered children fight to free themselves from their oppressors. I found parallels between their experiences and mine as a torture survivor.
If you haven’t yet picked up the first book, I hope you do. They are completely absorbing, thrilling, emotionally satisfying reads. I now have a new favorite author. Highly recommended!

I love the #bookswag I got for Wendy Orr’s books
I love the #bookswag I got for @wendy_orr_author ‘s books – a dragonfly button for DRAGONFLY SONG and a swallow enamel pin for SWALLOW’S DANCE which has been nominated for the 2018 TD Children’ s Literature Award.
But the biggest thrill was meeting Wendy Orr and talking to her in person.

I’m always so delighted when readers love my books and let others know about them! It’s a wonderful thing that you can do for an author you love or a book you love. Thank you so very much each of you you’ve let others know that you love my books. I appreciate you! And thank you so very much to Lynne Postlewait for this tweet!
I will always write strong girl characters who save themselves, survivors, and #lgbtqia characters.
