I am going to wear these awesome rainbow PJ bottoms as leggings

I am going to wear these awesome rainbow PJ bottoms as leggings because: rainbows! To me they represent both being out and proud as a lesbian, and magical hopeful rainbows. My neighbor and friend Debbie picked them up for me at Winner’s!

I saw this awesome bumper sticker on a truck

I saw this awesome bumper sticker on a truck in a parking lot today. It made me feel lighter, better, to randomly see a positive message out there.

I think it’s true, and we need to keep fighting for rights and equality for all oppressed groups, including #LGBTQIA, PoC, disabilities of all kinds; an end to violence and rape, sexual assault and child abuse and torture – prevention, and full belief, support, and help for survivors when it does happen; better gun laws; and just…a kinder, more compassionate, living world, even when other people oppose us. Especially when they do. (Though it’s also important to practice self-care.) #BelieveSurvivors #MeToo #rapeculture

I write because I had no voice growing up.

I write because I had no voice growing up. I write because I didn’t see myself reflected – lesbian, feminist, rape & torture survivor – yet books helped save me. I write to help others know they are not alone & it can get better. I write to have a voice.#WhyIWrite #BelieveSurvivors

If you don’t know her account, check it out. She has awesome, thoughtful mini reviews of great YA books that you might otherwise miss, especially #LGBTQIA, PoC, and other diverse reads, and puts the reviews on post-it notes or videos.

I’m always so delighted when readers love my books and let others know about them!

I’m always so delighted when readers love my books and let others know about them! It’s a wonderful thing that you can do for an author you love or a book you love. Thank you so very much each of you you’ve let others know that you love my books. I appreciate you! And thank you so very much to Lynne Postlewait for this tweet!

I will always write strong girl characters who save themselves, survivors, and #lgbtqia characters.

If you’re feeling afraid, sad, or overwhelmed since Trump was elected, here are some things you can do to help

I received an email from a reader who is lesbian and who used to self-harm (so may also be a survivor) telling me how terrified she was since Trump got elected, and hearing how his vice president wants to attack … Continue reading

Hate Is NEVER Okay. Let’s work towards a kinder, more inclusive world, with diversity of all kinds accepted and appreciated. A world that doesn’t have massacres like Pulse Orlando.

The LGBTQ massacre at Pulse Orlando yesterday by Omar Mateen was horrifying and devastating – and it made it even more clear how important it is still to work against homophobia and hatred, and toward greater compassion for all. How … Continue reading

Why LGBTQ Pride and YA LGBTQ Books Are Needed

(Originally written and posted for Pride Week on E. K. Anderson’s blog.) I once overheard someone say that Pride Week was a giant party and why wasn’t there a party for them (heterosexuals). It may look like a party—we certainly … Continue reading
