I just sent off my polished, deeply edited manuscript to my agent!

I just sent off my polished, deeply edited manuscript to my agent! I worked myself really hard but I’m excited about it and it felt so good to do. It helps so much when you get feedback from someone who not only understands story but also really gets YOUR story. (Thank you, Jennifer!) I am now going to take a much-needed rest! YAY!

I just got the sweetest gift from reader and friend Lynn Postlewait – scented pens with fine-tip points!

I just got the sweetest gift from reader and friend Lynn Postlewait – scented pens with fine-tip points! I only write well with fine tips, so I thought I wouldn’t be able to play like this editing my manuscript, but now I can! And it came at the perfect time – when I am exhausted, doing one last (light) edit of my manuscript before I send it to my agent, and dealing with heavy content that draws on my own trauma. So a little bit of scented fun is delightful and lightening my mood!

Did I mention that I love pens? And scented pens? And being able to play and to work? Fun! Thank you, Lynn!

When I get really deep, insightful editorial feedback

When I get really deep, insightful editorial feedback that I can see will make my #manuscript even stronger and more gripping, I get excited to edit. That’s what I got from my fab agent Jennifer Wills at Seymour. She has such a great eye for story! (beaming) I have been editing crazily since Friday! #amediting #amwriting #writing #writinglife #editing #literaryagent #JenniferWills #seymouragency

Writers! You’ll want to check out this writer’s thesaurus

Writers! You’ll want to check out this writer’s thesaurus

I love Angela and Becca’s thesauruses for writers; I think they can help writers get unstuck, so I am thrilled I can finally announce that The Emotion Thesaurus Second Editionis coming! It releases February 19th and this new, expanded edition has 55 new entries!
If you’re a writer like me you probably know (and may use) the original Emotion Thesaurus.  I do. It’s a great refresher on emotion, and a great jumping off point into writing emotion deeper.

Check out my post at http://www.cherylrainfield.com/blog for more details (especially about the pre- order bonus and free surprise!). #emotionthesaurus

I’m editing my manuscript and I just turned to The Emotion Thesaurus by Angela Ackerman and Becca Puglisi

I’m editing my manuscript and I just turned to The Emotion Thesaurus by @writers_helping_writers_angela and @beccapuglisi to make sure that the physical reaction for the emotion I was writing fit, and to see if there was anything else I could add. Whenever I think I’m repeating myself too much describing emotion or need to change it up I pick it up for inspiration. Writers – it’s a good book to have around.

Writing is a form of therapy.

I love this quote. I think writing IS a form of therapy–or it can be. For me, when I write fiction and I give my characters happy endings, or justice where I never had any, where the abusers go to … Continue reading
