Speaking of movies, those of you who know and love YA author Lara M. Zeises books (I do, I do!) (Think Bringing up the Bones (my favorite); Anyone but You; Contents Under Pressure) might be glad to know that the movie TRUE CONFESSIONS OF A HOLLYWOOD STARLET premiers this Saturday, August 9th, at 9pm on Lifetime Television. The movie stars Joanna “JoJo” Levesque (multi-platinum recording artist) and Valerie Bertinelli (Golden Globe winner). The movie is based on Lara Zeises’ book of the same name (True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet), that she wrote under the pseudonym Lola Douglas. Lara is a great writer, so I’m thrilled for her; I think her books deserve more attention.
Lara will be blogging live during the premiere of the movie, sharing her reactions and some behind-the-scenes info, so check it out.
Lifetime sums up the movie this way:
Teen actress Morgan Carter is a Hollywood princess, until the day that her hard-partying ways get the best of her. After she collapses outside a Hollywood nightclub, Morgan’s mother sends her to live incognito in the wilds of Fort Wayne, Indiana, with her Aunt Trudy. With a new look and a seriously depleted budget, Morgan enters a suburban high school with a new identity and a bad attitude. But it’s not long before a cute boy next door turns her head. And suddenly Morgan finds herself caught between the bright lights of Hollywood and a simple life with the boy she loves. Based on the book by Lola Douglas.
Entertainment Weekly calls the movie “surprisingly self-aware fun.” The Hollywood Reporter dubs it “a little gem of a movie.”
I don’t even know if I get that channel, but if I do I’d like to tune in. How about you?
