Reviewers – get a free digital copy of SCARS!

Reviewers, are you on NetGalley? You can get a free ebook copy of SCARS! In Scars, Kendra must face her past and stop hurting herself–before it’s too late. Scars deals with self-harm, sexual abuse, and being queer, and was #1 in ALA’s Top 10 Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers, a 2010 GG Finalist (Governor General Literary Award), and is on ALA’s Rainbow List (LGBT recommended books).

I hope you’ll download a copy and consider reviewing it. I want Scars to reach everyone who needs it…

About Cheryl Rainfield

I write the books I needed and couldn't find as a teen. I write teen fiction--paranormal fantasy and gritty realistic fiction. I'm the author of SCARS (WestSide Books, 2010) #1 ALA QuickPicks, and Governor General Literary Award Finalist, HUNTED (WestSide Books, Oct 2011), STAINED (Harcourt, 2013), The Last Dragon (HIP Books, Sept 2009), and Walking Both Sides (HIP Books, 2011). I also enjoy drawing, surfing the web, connecting with people I like, doing crafts, and being with my dog.

  5. Aw, thanks, Kellee, and Ali, Terra, and Christian; I so appreciate that! (beaming). Sorry–I just saw all your messages. I’m so glad you all want to read it!

You would be surprised at how at home this hits me, i do remember the abuser.. but i dont remember many details of the night, i’ve turned to cutting and its always a daily fight . I’ve gone to court, won the battle and the pain still remains.
    Did i mention.. I’m only 14.

  7. Becca, I’m so sorry you went through abuse; I know how hard that is. And you were so very strong and brave to go to court–that’s such a hard thing to do. I understand the pain still being there; the emotional pain goes deep. But I hope so much that you can find a way to stop cutting yourself. You don’t deserve to be hurt, not by anyone, not even by yourself.

  8. If you haven’t read it yet, you might want to read my Reasons Not To Hurt Yourself. (And I really do understand; the arm on the cover of Scars in my own.) But you deserve gentleness, compassion, and love, not more pain.

  9. Becca says:

I tried to get ahold of your books but being 14 its hard, and my parents dont wanna talk much about the past let alone help me get a book that they think will only hurt me more, i’ve left to my school libary which i have already found to have neither of your books.

  10. Cheryl Rainfield says:

Becca, try your public library system. They should have a copy.

  11. Could someone please send me the download link? I’m dying to read this book, but I can’t risk trying to check it out at the library. Help please!

  12. Nicole, this was a limited offer for reviewers only. Please try your local library to get a copy of Scars to read for free. Your public library system should have it.
